The landscape of publishing is always changing, the boom in self-publishing creating opportunities for diverse stories to be told in ways the old gatekeepers could never have imagined.
Unfortunately, self-pub also has the unfair reputation of being amateurish and poorly-edited. To that I say one word: bull. Some of the most original, entertaining, and well-written books I've read are self-published.
Ever After Edits
Ever After Edits was created to provide top-quality editorial services to romance writers in all sub-genres, but especially LGBTQ+. With the narrowing field of traditional publishers taking on queer romance these days, more and more authors are taking the leap to self-publishing. As a result, more and more voices are coming forward with wonderful stories, new sub-genres, and all the happy endings a romantic like me could possibly wish for.
But just because you're a trail-blazing badass who can publish yourself (seriously, I'm in awe of you all) doesn't mean you have to do everything on your own.
Which is where I come in. Beta, editor, loving voice of honesty.
I've been both editor and editee for years now. As both a MM Romance author and a former senior editor, I know how it feels on both sides of the equation. I know what it's like to stare at a mess of tenses and subject-verb agreements, and I know what it's like to get a file dripping with red.
I want you to know that while I'll never pull a punch, I'll never forget that we're in this together. My goal is to help you grow as an author, not tear you down. At the same time, I'll never be a mindless cheerleader. I'll be open and honest at all times and when I offer critique, it will be constructive -- and I'll always want you to ask questions. We're in this process together.
Let's do this.
What people say
Liz is one of those editors who truly works with you to bring out the best in your story without asking you to compromise on author voice or stylistic choices.
Liz is a joy to work with. She had edited several of my books, and always respected my voice. A stickler for details and grammar, I could count on her to catch my typos and poor choice of words!
